International Bulk Paper Quality Standards Grade 11 OCC

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries defines Corrugated Containers (Grade 11 OCC) as:

Consists of corrugated containers having liners of either test liner, jute or kraft. 

Prohibitive Materials:
Not to exceed 1%
Outthrows: Not to exceed 5%
Combined Outthrows and Prohibitives may not exceed 5%

Prohibitives are defined as any materials which by their presence in a packing of paper stock, in excess of the amount allowed, will make the packaging unusable as the grade specified and/or any materials that may be damaging to equipment.

Prohibitives include (but are not limited to):
 Wax (wax coated boxes or boxes with wax-impregnated medium)
 Plastic
 Cloth
 Food
 Glass
 Metal
 Photographs
 Styrofoam
 Overhead Slides
 Concrete
 Lumber
 Asphalt
 Xrays

Outthrows are defined as all papers that are so manufactured or treated or are in such a form as to be unsuitable for consumption as the grade specified.

Outthrows include (but are not limited to):
 Cores
 Newspapers
 Molded Products (egg cartons, fruit trays, etc.)
 Junk Mail
 Clay-Coated Papers
 Boxboard (shoe boxes or cereal boxes)
 Wet Strength (6-pack bottle carriers, some beer carriers)
 Tissue
 Wrappers for Rolls,
Lumber, Etc.
 Blueprints
 Multi-Wall Bags (pet food, concrete)
